What is a soundscape?
When you watch a movie, listen to an ad on the radio or browse a website, there is something that accompanies you without you always paying attention to it: the background music. It is there, in the background, to amplify emotions, guide your perception and enhance the content you discover. But make no mistake, it is never chosen by chance!
Background music is the melody that marries the images of a movie, the voice of a documentary or the atmosphere of an advertisement. It knows how to be discreet to leave room for words, or on the contrary, take the lead to capture all the attention. This music is thought out, composed and adjusted to reflect the soul of the content it accompanies.

What are the goals of a soundscape?
Soundscape is a bit like the invisible thread that connects images, words, and sometimes even silences. Its goal is to introduce an atmosphere, a dynamic that captures attention and allows for better audience receptiveness.
It structures content, rhythm, plays with strategic pauses and moments of silence to better anchor information in the viewer's mind.
Soundscape is also auditory memory. It helps your audience to immediately recognize your content, to instinctively associate a melody with a project and sometimes a brand.
Beyond the emotion it arouses, background music gives character to your content. It strengthens its identity, gives it a unique personality. Because deep down, what you want is for people to remember you, for people to feel something when listening to you. And that's precisely where a soundscape makes all the difference.
What type of music should you choose to illustrate your content?
You have several options for choosing the music that will enhance your content. One solution is to draw from a music catalog. You will find either royalty-free tracks — an often more economical option but which can limit choice — or commercial music. The latter require the payment of royalties, but they offer a much wider range, with trendy music or tracks already known to your audience.
